Study Abroad
The Department of Art invites Art majors to consider incorporating study abroad programming in their UCLA studies!
The International Education Office Website provides detailed information regarding the UC Education Abroad Program (EAP) and UCLA Travel Study.
Art majors have completed coursework toward their Art major requirements through UC EAP programs including:
- University of Copenhagen
- UC Center Paris
- Sotheby’s Institute of Art
- University College London
- Yonsei University
- Free University of Berlin
among others. Art majors currently are studying abroad at University of Barcelona, the UC Study Center in London, the University of Glasgow, and with the Made in Italy program in Florence.

Art major requirements that can be completed with UCEAP coursework:
Pre-approved; no petitions needed:
- UC EAP Upper Division Art History courses, 4 or more units >> Upper Division Art History requirement
- UC EAP Upper Division Art History courses >> Upper Division Art Elective
Pre-review is possible; submit syllabi to Departmental Advisor in advance of studies:
- UC EAP Upper Division courses directly related to students’ art practices >> Upper Division Art Elective
- UC EAP Upper Division studio coursework, 5 or more units >> Upper Division Advanced Studios.
Art major requirements that must be completed at UCLA:
- Art 150, Senior Capstone
- Art 132, Survey of Critical Thought
- Upper Division Special Topics in Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Advanced Studios
Students also may consider completing Upper Division Non Major, Foreign Language, and some General Education coursework while abroad.
Important: Please speak with the Departmental Advisor, or with a counselor in the Office of Student Services, in advance of your study abroad to discuss how coursework may be applicable toward degree requirements.
